binders.is_scratch flags the one binder per (owner, collection) whose documents are the DocManager grid selection rather than a curated list. It is an ordinary binder in every other respect, so the list query has to exclude it by hand: the organizer pins it above the list, and leaving it in would put it there twice and — worse — offer it in every "add to binder" picker. The lookup returns a list rather than an Optional because two tabs opening the organizer together can both miss and both insert; the caller takes the oldest.
