A single fixed page silently lost mail whenever a mailbox took more than pageSize messages between ticks — a newsletter burst, a busy shared inbox, or just the first sweep of an active mailbox — and lost it permanently, because the max-pages so one enormous mailbox cannot monopolise a tick. Hitting that bound but it cannot drop a message.
