One MediaService snapshot covers three surfaces that belong on two different nav indicators, so the totals are separated from the server's declared sessionType rather than from which windows happen to be open. An entry with no sessionType counts as chat — that is what an older build sends, and it keeps the badge doing what it did rather than dropping a count mid-deploy.
