Inviting somebody created a PENDING game nobody could touch, so the person who had just asked for a game sat in front of a board they were not allowed to use until somebody who might be at lunch clicked something. Nothing needed that: white moves first by the rules, and the inviter IS white. A game between two people is ACTIVE from the moment it is made. "Has the other player opened it yet" is DATE_OPPONENT_JOINED — a separate question from whether the game is running, which is what it always was, and the one the your-turn nudge keys on. PENDING is kept and deprecated rather than removed: the column persists the name.
