The Next.js proxy was dropping the request query string when forwarding to MediaService, which meant the chat history fetch's ?lang=<locale> param was silently lost. Without that param the backend never resolved a target language, no needsTranslation flag came back, the streaming translation queue had nothing to do, and every bubble fell back to the original text right after the brief "Translating…" flash.
