The previous attempts at adding overflow-x-auto to light DOM ancestors could not catch wide email content because the shadow tree's visual paint overflow does not contribute to the host's layout box. The host stayed at column width while wide tables painted past it, hitting the outer overflow-x-hidden and clipping with no scrollbar. Adding overflow-x: auto on the .email-content div *inside* the shadow CSS contains the overflow within the shadow DOM, so wide email tables scroll within the email body itself. The header remains static and unaffected.
