`/icon/cheddar.svg` was five paths of pure #000000 — a black cheese wedge, which on the nav bar's dark ground was very nearly nothing at all. It is a real cheddar yellow now, with the holes a deeper amber so they read as depth rather than vanishing into the body. That also explains a filter nobody could have noticed was dead: `UserStats` asked for `hue-rotate(45deg)`, and rotating the hue of black produces black. Somebody had already tried to make this yellow. The filter is gone; the file is yellow. ## Yellow alone was not enough, and a browser said so Measured across ten brand colours, the bare wedge scored 3.5–6.2 against the six dark ones — and **2.25 against a teal brand**, about 1.2 against a yellow or pale one. The nav bar is painted with `--color-primary`, which is arbitrary, and teal is not a contrived brand; it is one somebody has. That is the chess board's mistake in a new place: a colour that is right against the grounds you happened to check and invisible against the one an organization actually chose. Better hexes cannot fix it. So the wedge gets a fixed dark disc of its own and stops touching the brand at all — 8.42:1 on every one of the ten, identically, because the ground is no longer a variable. It reads as a token, which is what a currency mark should look like, and it fixes the popover header too, where the wedge would have vanished into a warm orange gradient just as thoroughly.
