Two letters standing in for a logo was a workaround for the response not carrying one. It does now, resolved server-side from the folder the org's theme was provisioned into, so a member picking between five workspaces recognises them rather than decoding initials. The monogram stays as the fallback, and it is a real one rather than a formality: nothing records whether an org ever uploaded a logo, so the URL is where the file WOULD be and a 404 is an ordinary answer. Failures are remembered per org id — without that the browser retries the same missing image on every re-render and the avatar flickers between a broken frame and two letters. A logo sits on white so it reads the same on the selected row as on the others; a monogram keeps the tinted chip it has always had.
