Antivirus protects the files in the Kamo phone app exactly as it does on the web. Every file you send, receive or upload is checked before anyone can open it. There's nothing to switch on and nothing to install on your phone.
Where to find it
When Antivirus stops a file that involves you, you get a notification. Tap it to open the Antivirus screen. It only shows what happened; nothing on it changes any settings. Pull down on the screen to refresh it.
What the Antivirus screen shows
What you see depends on what your organization lets you see.
- If you look after your organization's protection, the top card says whether you're Protected. Below it, Last 30 Days counts the Files Checked, the files Stopped, the files Allowed With Caution and the Emails Checked. Under that, Recent Detections lists the files Antivirus stopped lately, with the person each one involved.
- Everyone else sees Your Stopped Files: only the files Antivirus stopped that involved you.
- Each file shows its name, what kind of harm was found (for example Trojan or Phishing), where it came from (an email, chat, an upload) and when.
- If the list says Nothing Harmful Found, Antivirus hasn't had to stop anything. That's good news.
Sometimes the top card says Catching Up or Getting Ready instead of Protected. New files simply wait until they've been checked, so nothing unchecked ever gets through.
Locked and checking files in mail and chat
- A file Antivirus stopped shows as a locked card with a shield, under its original name. Tap it to see why. It can't be opened, saved or shared. The rest of the email or chat is safe to read.
- A file that says Checking is still being looked at. Give it a moment; it opens on its own once it's cleared.
- A file marked Caution still opens, with a short note telling you why to be careful.
- In your inbox, a small shield on the paperclip means one of that email's attachments was stopped.
Settings and reports are on the web
The phone screen is read-only. Choose Open on the Web at the bottom to go to the Antivirus Center on the web. That's where administrators change who is told about stopped files, see the full history and follow reports.
If you think a file was stopped by mistake
- Choose Open on the Web on the Antivirus screen, or open the same email or chat on a computer.
- On the locked card, choose I think this is a mistake.
- Add a short note if you like, and choose Send Report.
The Antivirus team looks at the file again. If it's safe, it's cleared and you're told. See Report a False Alarm for the details.
Until then, please don't try to get the file another way. If you need what's in it, ask the sender to send it again as a plain PDF.
