Calendar (nav icon, /calendar) is a real scheduling tool — events, guests, reminders, and recurrence — not a read-only view of something else. It only appears in your nav bar if your organization has email turned on and you hold the View Calendar right.
Calendars
An event always lives on a calendar. Every member has their own personal calendar, and an organization can also have one shared calendar everyone in it sees — marked with a small globe icon in the sidebar. Anyone can see the shared calendar, but only members holding the "Create Organization-Wide Calendar Events" right can add events to it; the event dialog only offers calendars you're actually allowed to write to. The left sidebar's My Calendars checklist shows or hides each calendar's events on the grid — unchecking one doesn't delete anything, it just filters what you're looking at.
Events
An event has a title, a start and end time (or a single all-day date), a timezone, an optional location and description, a color, and a private flag. Marking an event private hides its details from anyone who isn't invited to it, even on a calendar others can otherwise see.
Guests and RSVP
Anyone you invite by email becomes a guest (the field is labeled "Guests" in the dialog). Each guest has an RSVP status — Accepted, Declined, Maybe (tentative), or Awaiting reply — shown as a small colored dot next to their name. Whoever created the event is the organizer; only the organizer sees Update and notify, which pushes a change out to every guest by email, and Cancel event, which cancels the meeting without deleting your own record of it. Editing an event you didn't organize only changes it on your own calendar.
Reminders
An event can carry up to four reminders, each either a popup or an email, at a preset offset (5/10/15/30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week before) or a custom number of minutes. A reminder that has already fired shows as sent rather than silently looking identical to one still ahead of you. Your own defaults for new events — RSVP, reminder time and method, default calendar, and whether invitations you receive get auto-added — live under Calendar Settings (see How to Set Your Calendar Preferences).
Recurring events
Turning on Recurring event repeats the event Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly, a set number of times. There's no "repeat until a date" option — only a count of occurrences.
Events created elsewhere
Not every event on your calendar was created from the Calendar page itself. A lead callback scheduled from the CRM, for example, produces a calendar event automatically and links back to the lead it came from — you'll see an Open lead button at the top of that event's dialog. These events behave like any other on your grid; they're just produced by another part of the product.
