A Vendor is who a lead came from. A Product is a specific offering under that vendor — every vendor has one or more products, and a lead's Vendor + Product together identify its exact source.
Both are scoped to a single market (see Markets Explained) — a vendor set up under one market isn't available when creating a lead in a different market.
Self-generated leads use a house vendor
Not every lead comes from an external source. For leads your organization generates itself, "KamoCRM" is available as a selectable vendor alongside any external ones you've added — there's no requirement that every lead trace back to a paid third party.
What a product controls
Beyond just being a label, a product carries one meaningful setting: Empty Credit Free For All (FFA). Normally, claiming a lead from the pool costs the claiming member a credit (see Lead Credits Explained). A product marked FFA skips that — any eligible member can claim a lead from it without spending anything.
Products can also be marked as the org's default lead source for the Borrower Origination Web Portal, in mortgage-vertical setups — a separate, narrower designation covered where that portal is configured.
