Hibernate's PostgreSQL dialect maps @Lob String to an OID (large-object reference) and reads it with getLong(). CockroachDialect mapped the same annotation to plain TEXT, so this was invisible until the YugabyteDB cutover. Symptom: 'Bad value for type long : test' -- a chat message whose body is the word test, read as a long. It broke the lead communications timeline, and the same fault sat under every one of these 52 fields: notes, contacts, calendar events, OAuth access/refresh tokens, IMAP passwords, email campaign bodies, webhook secrets, Canva and social credentials. **************** restores the TEXT behaviour. Existing columns were already TEXT (carried over from CockroachDB) so no data moved; **************** and **************** had been created fresh as oid and were altered to text -- both tables were empty.
