The sticky could recolour, rename, minimize, maximize and close a note but not pin it — so pinning meant going back to /notes for the one thing the note is already in front of you for. Pinning is a property of the note rather than of the sticky, so the toggle writes straight through to the note and back via the shared cache. That is what makes it land everywhere at once: the /notes list, and the pinned-notes band on the home launchpad (where it stays hidden until the sticky is closed, as before). Optimistic, and it puts the pin back if the write fails. Reuses components.notes.card.pin / .unpin and the same icon the editor draws, so a pin means one thing across all three surfaces. No new strings.
