The chat notification carried `senderAvatar: ""` with the comment "avatar resolved on frontend", and the push carried no avatar at all. A browser can resolve one — it has the member directory loaded. A phone raising a floating head from a PUSH cannot: the app may not be running, so there is nothing to look anything up in, and the head showed initials until the member opened the conversation and minimized it again. memberAvatarUrl is the single-member twin of requestorAvatarUrls and re-reads the avatar row by id for the same reason: the association is lazy and Avatar is a JOINED hierarchy, so the proxy off getAvatar() reports the BASE type and every uploaded photo would be looked for at the vector path. Best-effort throughout — a missing face degrades to initials, which is what a 404 on the image would have produced anyway, and must not cost the message.
