The chips were inline-flex boxes whose label carried `truncate`. A flex child with overflow hidden is allowed to shrink below its own content, and nested inside the header's flex row that is exactly what happened: "Gerard Habib" came out as "Gerard Habib…" and a lone recipient as "i…", on a header with most of its width unused. Each chip is now an inline-block sized to its text, and the recipient line is ordinary inline flow instead of a flex row — so names wrap between chips the way the plain text they replaced did, and nothing can squeeze one narrower than the name inside it.
