The main content scroller declared both **************** and a block of `::-webkit-scrollbar` rules, on the theory that whichever the browser understood would win. Since Chrome 121 that is exactly backwards: the CSSWG resolved that a non-initial `scrollbar-width` or `scrollbar-color` makes the legacy pseudo-elements ignored, so Chrome threw the whole -webkit- block away and rendered `thin` in the platform's own colours — the faint bar the rules were added to replace. The bar scrolled, and could be dragged if you found it, which is why it read as "still invisible" rather than "unstyled". The -webkit- pseudo-elements now carry Chrome and Safari alone, and the standard properties sit behind `@supports not selector(::-webkit-scrollbar)` so only Firefox — which has no -webkit- rules to lose — applies them. Same conflict, same fix, for the sticky-note body scroller and the expanded nav rail: both had a deliberate width (10px pill, 20px rail) that Chrome was silently discarding.
