International SEO

Multiple languages and markets without competing against yourself

International SEO fails in a small number of predictable ways: translated pages that are not actually translated, hreflang clusters that do not reciprocate, canonicals pointing at the wrong language, and market versions of a site competing with each other for the same queries. Each is individually fixable and collectively they are why most multilingual sites underperform their monolingual competitors in every market including their home one.

What the work involves

  • Deciding structure — subdirectory, subdomain or country domain — on the evidence for your case
  • hreflang clusters that reciprocate, validated continuously rather than once
  • Canonical policy for pages that exist in one language and are served under several
  • Keyword research per market, because markets do not search in translated terms
  • Content decisions per market, distinguishing translation from genuine localisation
  • Reporting split by market, since a global average hides everything that matters

Why we are credible at this

Our own site serves twenty-two languages, and a page is listed in a language's sitemap only when that language genuinely carries the content — at least ninety per cent of its strings, fewer than thirty per cent identical to English. That second test catches a provider echoing the source back, which otherwise looks like a complete translation.

What moves the price

We quote after discovery and the number is fixed before anything starts. These are the things that move it, so you can see roughly where your project sits before you talk to us.

  • Number of languages and number of markets, which are different multipliers
  • Whether the current structure is salvageable or needs migrating
  • Whether content is translated or genuinely localised per market
  • Whether local-language keyword research is in scope
