IoT Devices is an app your organization turns on. It is never turned on for you, even when your plan includes it. Until it is on, nobody sees Devices (IoT) in the menu.
Before you start
- You need the Configure System Settings right.
- IoT Devices is included in paid plans and in a trial. It is not on the Free plan. See IoT Devices and Your Plan.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings → My Account → Apps & Features.
- On the Available tab, find IoT Devices and turn its switch on.
- Devices (IoT) now appears in the side menu for the organization owner and for everyone whose role includes the View IoT Devices right. If it does not appear straight away, reload the page.
For more about this screen, see How to Turn Apps and Features On or Off.
Decide who can do what
Turning the app on gives nobody control of a device. The organization owner holds the IoT administration rights without being given them. Everyone else needs a role that includes them: open Settings → Essential Setup → Security Roles and give the IoT rights to the people who should have them. The full list is in Who Can Do What in IoT Devices.
Then describe your places with How to Set Up Sites and Spaces, and link your first account with the article for your vendor under Connect Your Accounts.
Result
Devices (IoT) opens the IoT Devices pages, with the tabs Overview, Devices, Spaces, Alarms and Activity. People with the Manage IoT Automations right also see Automations, and people with the Manage IoT Sharing right also see Shared. The pages are empty until an account is connected.
Settings for the whole organization are under Settings → Devices (IoT). You can also choose Adjust Features on the app's card in Apps & Features to go there.
If it doesn't work
- The card shows Add-on Required or an upgrade chip, or turning it on fails with "The IoT Devices app is not included in this organization's plan. Upgrade the plan or add the add-on to enable it.": your plan does not include IoT Devices. Ask your account owner. See IoT Devices and Your Plan.
- You cannot find Apps & Features: you lack the Configure System Settings right. Ask an administrator.
- The menu does not show Devices (IoT) after turning it on: reload the page. If it is still missing, your role lacks the View IoT Devices right; ask an administrator.
