Every punch instant comes from the DB, never the JVM: pods restart and node clocks skew, and a wage record whose ordering depends on which pod answered is not a record. SQL-standard CAST, because a :: cast is silently mangled -- Hibernate reads ':' as a named-parameter prefix and turns now()::timestamp into :timestamp.
