Record the start or end of your shift, or a meal or break, using the clock control in the top navigation bar.
Before you start
- Your organization uses Timecards, and you've been enrolled in timecard tracking by HR. If you haven't been enrolled, the clock icon does not appear in your nav bar at all β see Timecard Enrollment and Overtime Rules
Steps
- In the top navigation bar, find the stopwatch icon next to the Legal & Compliance button. Hover it to see your current status (for example, "You are on the clock β Change your clock status").
- Click the icon. A confirmation card opens with a live, second-by-second clock.
- If more than one action is available for your current state, pick one from the list β for example, while working you can choose End my shift, Go on my meal, or Take a break. If only one action makes sense (for example, you're off the clock), it's selected automatically.
- Read the confirmation text β it tells you plainly that the time recorded is the moment you press the button, not the moment you opened the card. Click the colored action button (for example, Clock in now or Start my break) to confirm, or Not now to back out without recording anything.
What you'll see
Your punch is recorded immediately and the dialog closes. The clock icon updates to reflect your new state and colored dot (green = working, amber = on a meal, violet = on a break, no dot = off the clock). If your punch reversed the one immediately before it (pressed within about a minute), the card stays open with a short notice explaining that your timecard shows no interruption, and you dismiss it with Got it.
If the punch fails to save, the card stays open with an error message and the same confirmation, so retrying doesn't risk recording a second punch.
