Human Resources and Time Cards

Two related areas: the HR record-keeping an employer has to do, and the clock your team punches every day.

What you'll find here

• Time Cards — clocking in and out, meals and breaks, checking your own hours, and downloading your records. This is the part most people use.
• Human Resources — the administrative side: enrolling people in timecards, approving hours, closing a pay period, exporting payroll, assigning training, and issuing legal documents for signature.

If you just want to clock in

Go to How to Clock In and Out. The clock lives in the top navigation bar, and if you can't see it, you haven't been enrolled yet — ask HR. Timecard Enrollment and Overtime Rules explains what enrollment actually does and how overtime is worked out.

If you run HR

Set it up in this order:

1. Configure your timecard rules — the workweek, break rules, rounding and overtime thresholds. Do this before anyone is enrolled, because the rules apply from the moment they are.
2. Enroll your team.
3. Set up the pay calendar, so pay periods close on the right days.
4. Connect a payroll provider and map each person to their payroll record, if you're exporting hours rather than reading them off a screen.

Training courses and legal packages are independent of all of that and can be set up whenever you like.
