1. **************** was discarding events because handleWebhook() had no @Transactional — save + publishEvent() ran outside any transaction. Add @Transactional to handleWebhook() to fix. 2. Both onCommitLogSaved() and retryIncompleteTranslations() called translateCommitLog() via 'this', bypassing the Spring proxy and defeating @Async and @Transactional. Use a @Lazy @Autowired self-reference so all calls go through the proxy. 3. retryIncompleteTranslations() fetched all 4,600 commit log IDs then passed them as a huge IN clause. Now uses the updated query with Pageable and caps back-fill at 50 commit logs per 5-minute run (~1,050 HTTP calls max).
