Request to reserve (hold) a lead as an opportunity while you work to close it, optionally sharing commission with colleagues who helped.
Before you start
An existing lead you're actively working.
Steps
- Open the lead record.
- Click Reserve Opportunity in the top action bar.
- Choose how long you need the hold for — preset buttons for 7 / 14 / 30 / 60 / 90 days, or drag the slider / type an exact number of days (up to 90). The modal shows the resulting "Reserved until [date]."
- Write a Why this opportunity justification — describe what you've built with the prospect and the interest they've shown. This is what an approver reviews when deciding on the request.
- Optional — under Share the commission, click Add another colleague for each teammate who helped bring the opportunity in. For each one, choose Percent or a flat Amount, enter the share, and choose One-time or Recurring payout.
- Click Submit request.
What you'll see
The action bar button changes to Opportunity Request Pending, indicating the request is awaiting approval.
Note
Reserving an opportunity is a hold-and-approval workflow layered on top of a lead — not an automatic conversion. Who approves the request and what happens after approval still needs to be captured (admin-side follow-up).
