A lead is a person who might buy from you. Everything in this section is about getting one into KamoCRM, working it, and knowing where it stands.
Start here if you're new
Read Leads, Opportunities and Accounts first. Those three words get used interchangeably in conversation and mean three different things in the product, and most of the confusion people have with the CRM traces back to that one distinction.
Then Lead Status vs. Sub-Status, which explains how a lead's progress is actually tracked. There is no separate "pipeline" object in the CRM — the status is the pipeline.
Everyday work
- How to Create a Lead — adding one by hand.
- How to Edit a Lead's Information and How to Change a Lead's Status — keeping it current.
- How to Log a Note or Activity on a Lead — what you said, when.
- How to Schedule a Callback on a Lead — so you don't forget to.
- How to Search and Filter Your Leads — including looking across several markets at once.
Sharing work out across a team
Three different mechanisms, easy to mix up:
- How to Assign a Lead to a Teammate — one lead, one person, deliberately.
- How to Bulk-Reassign Leads — many at once, usually when somebody leaves or a territory changes.
- How to Release a Lead Back to the Floor — giving one up so anybody can claim it.
Claiming leads you don't have yet
Lead Credits Explained covers the model: leads aren't pushed to you, you pull them, and each one costs a credit. How to Find Available Leads and Check Your Credits is the screen where that happens, and How to Manage Lead Credit Allotments is how an administrator decides who gets how many.
Opportunities
An opportunity is a claim on a piece of business attached to a lead. Opportunities Explained covers the idea, How to Reserve an Opportunity covers making one, and How to Approve or Deny an Opportunity Request covers what a manager does next.

A custom form is a set of extra questions attached to a market, asked when somebody creates a lead in it. Solar leads need roof age; insurance leads need vehicle details; neither belongs on the standard lead record.…
Status Labels
Every lead moves through the same five stages. Their names are yours to change. If your team says "Working" where KamoCRM says "Reckoning", rename it. The stage still behaves identically; only the word on the screen…
