Note: the lead detail page's "More" menu has a "Convert" item — it's a placeholder that just shows "coming soon" and does nothing. There is no lead-to-account conversion. The real mechanism is linking a lead to an account, described below. See Leads, Opportunities and Accounts for how these objects relate.
Connect a lead to a customer Account — either an existing one, or a brand-new one created from the lead's contact info.
Steps
- Open the lead's detail page.
- On the Lead Info card, find the Account row. If nothing is linked yet it shows Unassigned with an Assign Account button; if one's already linked, the button reads Change Account.
- Click it — you're taken to the Assign Account page.
- Either:
- Search for and select an existing account, then click Assign to This Account; or
- Click Create New Account — this opens the new-account form pre-filled with the lead's name, email, and phone from its Primary Contact. Submitting it automatically links the new account to this lead.
What you'll see
The lead's Account row now shows the linked account (clicking it opens the account's own page). The lead record itself is unchanged — linking doesn't delete, close, or transform the lead.
