Read and control Shelly relays, plugs, dimmers, covers and sensors through Shelly Cloud, with your account's cloud key.
Before you start
- You need the Manage IoT Connections right.
- Shelly offers no way to list your devices, so you list their IDs yourself.
- Shelly BLU devices are not supported.
Connect it
- In the Shelly app, open User settings → Authorization cloud key and copy the key and the server (for example
shelly-12-eu.shelly.cloud). - Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Connections and choose Add connection.
- In Add a connection, choose Shelly (under Smart home).
- In Name this connection, enter the name people will see.
- Paste the server into Server and the key into Authorization cloud key.
- In Device IDs, list the devices to use, one per line: the device's ID (Shelly app → device → Settings → Device Information → Device Id), optionally followed by a space and the name to show.
- Choose Test and link, then Done.
Result
The connection tests the key before it is saved, then shows your devices. Their state is checked every 30 seconds, so a sensor's current state is seen but not every short change in between.
If it doesn't work
- The credentials are rejected after a while: a new Shelly password gives you a new cloud key. The connection then says Needs a new sign-in. Choose Sign in again. The form opens with your Server and Device IDs filled in. Paste the new key into Authorization cloud key and choose Test and link. See How to Relink a Connection.
- The vendor moved your account to another server. Enter the server shown in its app. Copy the server again from the Shelly app and relink with it.
- A device is missing: a working connection's device list cannot be edited. Add another Shelly connection for the missing devices, or remove this connection and add it again with the full list. Removing ends access and shares on its devices; see How to Remove a Connection.
- See Fixing a Connection Problem.
