Read solar production, consumption, grid and battery values from SolarEdge sites. The connection only reads: it cannot change settings on your inverters or batteries. There are two ways to connect, depending on your SolarEdge account. Both appear under Energy in the list of connections.
Before you start
- You need the Manage IoT Connections right.
- SolarEdge reports 15-minute averages and bills every call to a developer plan. Values refresh at most every 15 minutes. On the Free plan they refresh much less often, about every hour or two for a single site, and less often the more sites you read.
With an installer account
- Your SolarEdge account must be an installer account, and an account admin must activate developer access. Homeowner accounts cannot create a fleet key.
- On SolarEdge's developer platform, create an application for the Monitoring API with Fleet Access → My Fleet, choose how long its key lasts and copy the App API Key. SolarEdge shows it only once.
- Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Connections and choose Add connection.
- In Add a connection, choose SolarEdge.
- In Name this connection, enter the name people will see.
- Paste the key into App API Key and choose your SolarEdge developer plan.
- On an Enterprise plan, enter your Monthly credits.
- In the share field (%), set how much of your monthly credits the connection may use, from 10 to 100. It starts at 80. The connection spreads its calls so it stays inside that share.
- To limit the connection to some sites, list their site IDs, one per line, in Sites (optional). Leave it empty to read every site in your fleet.
- Choose Test and link, then Done.
Without an installer account
The second SolarEdge entry signs in to SolarEdge through the platform's own SolarEdge application, and the platform pays for the calls. It is set up by the platform first: your organization sees it in the list only once the platform offers it.
- Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Connections and choose Add connection.
- Choose the second SolarEdge entry, whose description says it links sites through its own SolarEdge app.
- In Name this connection, enter the name people will see.
- In Sites, list the IDs of the sites you will approve, one per line.
- Choose the button that continues to SolarEdge, sign in and approve access. You come back to the Connections tab.
- After you remove the connection, also remove the access in your SolarEdge account. SolarEdge offers no way to withdraw it from here.
Result
Your sites appear after the first sync with their solar, grid and battery readings, and their history.
If it doesn't work
- The key has expired. Create a new one and relink. Create a new key in SolarEdge. When the connection says Needs a new sign-in, choose Sign in again and paste the new key. The form opens with your current plan, share and sites filled in, and a setting you leave as it is stays as it was. Then choose Test and link. See How to Relink a Connection.
- The connection says its credits for today's share are used up: it stops calling SolarEdge and resumes by itself when the next day's share begins.
- See Fixing a Connection Problem.
