How to Ask the AI Assistant a Question

Start a conversation with the AI Assistant, or continue one, from the chat window.

Before you start

Your organization has AI Assistant enabled and you hold the View AI Conversations right (ask an admin if the icon isn't in your nav bar).

Steps

1. In the top navigation bar, click the AI Assistant icon. A chat window opens — a new conversation starts automatically the first time.
2. Type your question into the message box at the bottom of the window.
3. Optional — attach an image: click the paperclip icon to the left of the message box and choose a file, or drag-and-drop / paste an image directly into the window. It uploads immediately and shows a thumbnail; if the upload fails, a retry control appears on the thumbnail.
4. Press Enter to send (Shift+Enter or Alt+Enter for a new line without sending), or click the send button.

What you'll see

Your message appears immediately on the right; the assistant's reply streams in on the left, formatted as rich text (headings, lists, tables, code blocks). If the assistant used a connected tool to answer, you'll see a collapsible "Tool:" entry above the reply. If sending fails, an error message appears in the thread instead of a silent drop.
