AI Assistant (nav icon, top navigation bar) is a chat window you can open at any time to ask questions and get answers, without leaving whatever else you're doing in KamoCRM. It opens as a floating window (like Chat or Support), not a full page, and you can have more than one open at once.
It only appears in your nav bar if your organization has AI turned on and you hold the View AI Conversations right.
What it does
- Ask questions and get answers. Type a message, optionally attach an image, and the assistant replies in the same window. Responses render as formatted text — headings, lists, tables, and syntax-highlighted code blocks with a one-click copy button.
- Keeps a history. Every conversation is saved as a session you can return to later, search, rename, and file into folders.
- Shows a model selector. The window's header displays a dropdown of your organization's connected AI models/providers, defaulting to Auto. As of this pass, this control doesn't do anything — see AI Conversations and Models for what was found reading the code. Which model actually answers is decided server-side regardless of what's shown there.
What it doesn't do (yet)
This window is a general-purpose chat surface — it is not, as of this pass, wired to any CRM-specific actions (it doesn't read your leads or accounts, run reports, or take actions elsewhere in the product on your behalf). It's a conversation, not an agent with tool access into your CRM data, unless your organization's admin has connected MCP tools to it — see MCP Servers Explained (admin-side).
Where the answers come from
What model answers you, what it costs, and what it's allowed to do (attach images, use connected tools) are all controlled on the admin side — see AI Providers Explained and AI Security Models Explained in the Workspace → Artificial Intelligence settings documentation. This category covers using the assistant day to day; that one covers setting it up.
