Create a new calendar event, with its time, reminders, and options, in one dialog.
Before you start
You hold View Calendar and have at least one calendar you can write to (your own personal calendar always qualifies).
Steps
- On the Calendar page, click + Create Event — either the button in the toolbar or the one in the left sidebar. This opens the Create event dialog.
- Type a Title — required; the dialog won't let you save without one.
- Set when it happens:
- The two date/time fields set the start and end. Today and Tomorrow shortcuts move the event a day at a time while keeping its time of day and length; the quick-pick chips (15m / 30m / 60m / 2h) set the event's length from the start time you already picked.
- Toggle All-day event if it isn't tied to a specific time.
- Pick a Timezone if the event is happening somewhere other than your own — the times you typed are read in whichever zone is selected, so a "2pm" call to someone three time zones away means 2pm for them, not for you.
- If what you're scheduling conflicts with something already on your calendar, a warning appears right under the time fields naming what it collides with.
- Under Remind me, click Add a reminder to attach up to four — pick a preset (5/10/15/30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or 1 week before) or Custom for any number of minutes. Click a reminder's icon to toggle it between popup and email, or the × to remove it. Leaving this empty is a valid choice — it just means no reminder fires.
- Under Calendar, choose which of your writable calendars the event lands on, and optionally pick a Color for it (defaults to the calendar's own color).
- Add Location and Description if useful — both optional.
- Turn on Recurring event if it repeats, then choose Repeat (Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Yearly) and how many times it occurs. There's no "until a date" option, only a count.
- Turn on Private event if you don't want its details visible to anyone else who can otherwise see this calendar.
- Click Create.
What you'll see
The event appears on the calendar you selected, at the time and with the options you set. If you added guests as part of this (see How to Invite Guests to an Event), they're notified once you save.
