An order is something a customer has bought. The pipeline is the board that shows every open order and what stage it's at.

Pipeline means something specific here
Unlike in the CRM — where "pipeline" is a way of talking about a lead's status rather than a real object — the commerce pipeline is a genuine board with genuine stages. An order sits at one, and moving it is a real action with real consequences: it can trigger fulfillment, invoicing, or a notification to the customer.
Orders and accounts
Every order belongs to an account. From the order you can reach the customer; from the customer's Orders tab you can see everything they've bought. If you're tracing a customer's whole history, that tab is the fastest route.
