Where to search from, and why the same words find different things in different places.
There isn't one search box for everything
This is the thing to know first. KamoCRM searches within an area rather than across all of them, because a lead, an email and a document are different enough that one combined result list would be worse than three good ones.
To find | Search from |
|---|---|
A lead | The Leads screen |
A customer | The Accounts screen |
An email | Your mailbox |
A document or file | Docs |
A help article | The Knowledge Base |
A person you email or call | Contacts |
Something you wrote down | Notes |
A chat message | Inside the conversation |
Searching well
Use fewer words. Most of these search for all of your words, so a long phrase finds less, not more. Two distinctive words beat a remembered sentence.
Search what's stored, not what's shown. A lead's status may be displayed with your organization's own label, but a search of it may look for the underlying stage. If a status search comes up empty, that's worth checking.
Filters beat search for lists. "Every lead in this market at this status" is a filter, not a search. How to Search and Filter Your Leads covers the difference and when each is right.
When you find nothing
Three explanations, in the order they're usually true:
- You're searching the wrong place. An email won't appear in a lead search.
- It's outside what you're allowed to see. Search never returns things your role doesn't permit, and it doesn't tell you it's holding something back — that would give away that it exists.
- It's genuinely not there. Least likely, but it happens — especially with imports that failed. How to Review Past Imports and Re-Import Failed Rows.
Asking instead of searching
For "how do I do X", the AI Assistant is usually faster than searching, because it can answer from your organization's own guides and follow up when the first answer isn't quite it. How to Ask the AI Assistant a Question.
