Respond to or pass along an email you've received.
Steps
There are two ways to reply, depending on how much you want to write:
Full reply (opens a compose window with the original quoted below your text):
- Open the message in your reading pane.
- Click Reply, Reply all, or Forward above the message body.
- Reply addresses only the original sender.
- Reply all addresses the sender and everyone else who was on the message, excluding your own mailbox and aliases.
- Forward leaves the To field empty for you to fill in, and carries the original attachments along.
- A compose window opens, pre-filled with the subject (prefixed
Re:orFwd:if it isn't already) and the original message quoted below. Write your reply above the quote, then click Send.
Quick reply (fast, plain text, no separate window):
- Scroll to the bottom of the reading pane — a Quick Reply box sits under the message.
- Type your reply and click Send Reply.
What you'll see
Your reply or forward sends and appears in your Sent folder. The reply is threaded to the original message (In-Reply-To / References headers), so it stays in the same conversation on both ends.
A message that can't be replied to
Some emails come from a system address that can't receive replies (for example, automated notifications). Kamo detects this and hides the Reply/Reply all buttons, showing a note that explains why — use Forward instead if someone else needs to see it.
