Two tabs set what every SI member in your organization starts from. The Organization charter is the first layer of every member's charter. Personalities holds the archetypes: named starting personalities that any charter can choose.
Both are under Settings → SI Support, as Settings → SI Support → Organization charter and Settings → SI Support → Personalities. You see them when your organization has the SI Workforce app switched on and you have Configure System Settings.
The organization charter
The organization charter holds the same sections as any other charter: purpose, responsibilities, guidelines, boundaries, approvals, limits, personality, collaboration and the rest. What you set here applies to everyone, until a more specific level changes it. It is the place for what is true of the whole organization: a boundary nobody may cross, a guideline for every customer conversation, or a default personality for every SI member.
The layer order
Every member's charter is put together from its layers, from the most general to the most specific:
Organization → Role(s) → Department → Job Title → Team(s) → Member
A member's department comes with every department above it, from the top down, and its teams come in order of their names. Each layer builds on the ones before it, and how they combine depends on the section; see The AI Charter Explained. For the personality settings:
- The most specific value wins, within the range the levels above allow. A level's Limits for the levels below narrow that range for everything after it.
- A lock fixes a value for every level after it. A lock on the organization charter holds for every member.
- An archetype applies just below the level that chose it: that level and the levels after it can change any of its values, and it replaces the values the levels before it set. Locks and limits from any level still apply.
For collaboration, the strictest working mode, contact and delegation settings win, escalation conditions and watches from every level add up, and the most specific attention and digest settings win.
Saving is the approval
There is no separate approval step. When you save the organization charter, every SI member's brief is updated from the new settings, and the notice at the top of the Personality section says how many SI members that reaches. For each setting, its controls and its preview, see How to Shape an SI Member's Personality.
Personality archetypes
An archetype is a named starting personality: values for the dimensions, sensitivities, work style, thresholds, social style, channels, etiquette, decision priorities, strengths, tendencies and adaptations, and optionally a short text describing it. A charter chooses one on its Archetype card. It fills every setting it defines, and every setting can still be changed on that charter or below it.
Built-in archetypes
The tab lists seven archetypes under Built in, written for every organization: Executive, Operator, Analyst, Diplomat, Challenger, Concierge and Specialist. Each card shows its description, its text, and the four dimensions where it differs most from the defaults.
You cannot change a built-in one. To make it your own, click Copy and customize: an archetype of your organization's is created with the built-in's settings and text, named after it with "(copy)" at the end, and opens for you to edit. Give it a description of your own.
Your organization's archetypes
They are listed under Your organization's archetypes, with how many settings each one has and when it was last updated. Click New archetype to start from nothing, or Edit to change one. Your organization can have up to 50 archetypes; at that number, New archetype and Copy and customize are unavailable until you delete one.
The archetype opens with:
- Name: up to 120 characters, and different from your other archetypes' names.
- Description: what the archetype is for, up to 2,000 characters.
- How it reads (optional): a short text describing the personality. The paragraph written for an SI member's brief starts from it.
- Settings: the Personality section's cards, with plain values only. An archetype has no limits, locks or notes, and cannot choose another archetype.
Preview writes a text from the settings as they are in the dialog; Use the preview as the text copies it into How it reads (optional), for you to adjust. Charters choose an archetype rather than copying it, so a change you save to it applies wherever it is chosen.
Rules for an archetype's text
The text in How it reads (optional) must be 40 to 220 words and at most 1,500 characters, and is written to the SI member as "you". The field counts both as you type.
Use Insert the organization's name where the text should name your organization: it puts a placeholder at the cursor, and each brief says your organization's name there.
The name, the description and the text all describe a personality, so none of them may read as a permission. Wording about sharing or passing on information, granting permissions, approvals, or ignoring rules is refused when you save, and the words that caused it are shown under the field. A personality describes how an SI member works, never what it may share or do; that is what the charter's other sections, the approvals and the disclosure rules are for.
Deleting an archetype
Delete asks you to confirm, and cannot be undone. An archetype that is still chosen somewhere cannot be deleted: the tab says where, such as the organization charter, two job titles or one member. Choose another archetype there first, then delete it.
That is deliberate. Every SI member whose charter chose the archetype takes its personality from it, so deleting it would change how they work without anyone deciding so on their charters.
