Brand and identity systems

An identity that survives contact with a real product

A great deal of identity work is produced for a presentation and never tested against the places it has to live. The logo is beautiful at poster size and illegible as a sixteen-pixel favicon. The palette has insufficient contrast for body text and fails accessibility the moment it meets a real interface. The guidelines cover stationery and say nothing about a disabled button, an error state or an email that must render in a client from 2009.

What the work involves

  • Identity designed against the surfaces it will actually appear on, tested small and in context
  • A palette that passes contrast requirements as used, not merely as swatched
  • Type choices evaluated for loading weight and legibility, not only for character
  • Guidelines covering interface states, email and documents — the awkward places
  • Asset production in the formats and sizes that are actually needed
  • Handover as tokens a development team can consume, not only as a PDF

Why we are credible at this

Our platform is white-label: an organisation's own branding replaces ours across the web application, email templates, signable documents and the mobile experience. Identity that has to survive being swapped out per tenant is identity designed as a system.

What moves the price

We quote after discovery and the number is fixed before anything starts. These are the things that move it, so you can see roughly where your project sits before you talk to us.

  • Whether this is a new identity or an evolution of an existing one
  • How many surfaces and formats need coverage
  • Whether naming is in scope, which is a different discipline
  • Whether a rollout across existing material is included
