Kamo vs a marketing agency

The incumbent, and the one this whole argument is about

This is the comparison that matters most, and we want to be careful with it, because plenty of agencies are genuinely good and the bad ones are not bad through laziness. The structural problem is that a full-service agency sells software it did not build, infrastructure it does not run and measurement it cannot inspect. When everything works, none of that is visible. When something breaks, all of it is.

When a marketing agency is the better choice

  • You need broad creative and brand campaign work, PR, events or media relationships — we do none of these and would be pretending
  • You need a large volume of routine content or design production quickly; agencies are structured for throughput and we are not
  • You need to start this month with a team already staffed for it
  • Your requirement is genuinely standard marketing execution and nothing in your stack needs building, in which case our main advantage is irrelevant to you

The honest verdict

If your problem is campaign execution and creative volume, a good agency is the right buy and we will say so. If your problem is that nobody can tell you why a number is wrong, why the email is not arriving, or why the thing you need built keeps being quoted as impossible, that is a supplier who does not own anything underneath the surface — and that is the specific problem we exist to solve.
