Your organization picks exactly one active email provider, from 12 types, and every other Email settings tab (Mailboxes especially) changes shape depending on which one is active.
The four shapes a provider can take
- Fully hosted (KamoMail) — Kamo's own internal mail server. Nothing to configure beyond selecting it.
- Inherited (Parent Org) — uses whatever your parent organization has configured. Read-only here.
- OAuth-connected (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail) — you authorize a connection via a popup, no app registration needed for Microsoft.
- Manually configured (SMTP Only, IceWarp, Exchange, Individual IMAP) — you enter server/host/credential details directly.
- Personal, per-member (Gmail Personal, Outlook Personal, Individual IMAP) — selecting these configures nothing at the organization level at all; each member connects their own mailbox from their own profile, and the Mailboxes tab shows a different, simpler layout to match.
A subtle but important distinction for Google Workspace
Connecting Google Workspace via OAuth only authorizes the connection itself — it doesn't automatically grant Kamo access to read or send from specific mailboxes. A second step, pasting a service-account JSON key (domain-wide delegation), is what actually enables IMAP/SMTP access to assigned mailboxes. Skipping that second step leaves the connection "Connected" but functionally unable to send or receive mail.
